As passionate eco-builders, Matai Homes create bespoke, low-energy, healthy homes for valued clients throughout the Wellington, Kapiti and Horowhenua regions. Erwin
Erwin began as a 15-year-old apprentice before studying structural engineering and project management. In Germany, he worked on sustainable and passive house projects. he moved to New Zealand in 2005 for family and the outdoors. Here, he managed multimillion-dollar commercial builds before shifting to high-performance housing in 2017, joining Chay to build better homes in NZ.

Chay
Chay left school at 16 to begin an apprenticeship in the UK, training with high-performance, low-energy home builders. In 2007, he returned to New Zealand with his young family, seeking a warmer, safer lifestyle. He founded a construction company in 2010, building homes across Kāpiti and Wellington. By 2017, Chay shifted his focus to high-performance housing and partnered with Erwin to establish Matai Homes Ltd.
